It's never easy.

So I want to start playing FFXI. Lorelai can't handle it (doesn't even meet the minimum requirement), so I've installed windows (2000) on Matsuri, my dear 1.7GHz P4.

Oh boy, the issues I've had so far. Had to change the NIC because I'd get an error during the driver installation for the gigabit card that worked just fine under linux. So I exchanged it for my spare card. Had  to download the drivers. Getting the correct video card drivers was a pain as well, but I've got them now. Things are looking okay.

But I can't get the onboard sound to work. It's enabled in bios, but seems to require drivers that apparently do not exist on the internet.
I tried running the FFXI benchmark and it didn't even start. I hope that's because I have no audio device, and not some flaw on my video card's side.

I'm also running on an hour or so of sleep, and no food save a couple of bananas.
