Vacation countdown

Friday I head down to Bergen, and Saturday I am flying to Stockholm where I'll meet up with aetherspoon Sunday morning.

Still feel totally unprepared. I have laundry to do, and I'm wondering if it'll even be dry by the time I need to pack. What will my laundry options be underway? I don't know. Surely some of the hotels will have laundry facilities. Will I be able to make tea, or do I have to settle for overpriced inferior tea?

Other than that, I am doing well, the cats are doing well, and I have a neighbor who offered to stop by daily to feed them. Also about a week into my vacation, my mom is coming over here, so that halves my guilt over leaving my grandmother and the cats to fend for themselves. Things are going to work out just fine.

Tomorrow I have another therapy appointment in Førde. Wednesday is my usual cooking duty. Other than that, there's nothing else I have to do before leaving. Well, I really ought to clean a lot. But that's always the case. I'm really not fully competent at running a household. Maybe if there were three of me, I'd cope.

The effect of the cats on my mental health has been wonderful, preventing me from slipping into depression even in the absence of other helpful activities like knitting. I looked at my ravelry projects last night and was horrified to see I had gone four months since I last knit a pair of socks. I'm going to need something to knit. I love knitting while traveling, and this vacation is going to involve a lot of traveling. We're basically doing a tour of southern Sweden, mostly by train.

As luck would have it, this trip does NOT mean missing a visit from the library boat. I'll stop by here probably about a week after I get back. That's something.. though I think I've only read one of the six or so books I checked out the last time. Ooops. I have been really slow in reading this year. I can't quite understand how some people can read through a whole book in an afternoon... though I did that a few times in my youth, those were shorter books, possibly sub-200 pages. A decent-sized book now, I can't imagine reading it in less than five days. The last book I read took me a month.. so I'm a couple of books behind schedule for my reading challenge. Anyone else here on Goodreads by the way? I have, uh, three or four friends there.
