My joy of getting midi music in Daggerfall was short-lived. The game kept crashing randomly (as opposed to the normal crashes which are triggered by something, so they are in part avoidable, and you develop the sense to save before attempting them, just in case). I had no choice but to enter the sound config and select "No midi device." So far, it looks like the game is back to its usual level of stability. Perhaps a bit slower, as I installed DirectX 8, because the installation of the sound card drivers claimed I needed DirectX 7 or higher to use midi.
