Chuunin - Kamizuki Izumo

I've finally started work on Yoki. Today I put in the SATA card and 1TB SATA harddrive, and noticed I lack a power connector of the appropriate type.

So I ordered one from my favorite online computer parts store. 35 kroner (~5 USD), no big deal. Shipping cost? 105 kroner?! Thankfully I noticed I could actually change shipping type to uninsured letter for an item this small, which brought the cost down to 39 kroner. Still paying more for shipping than merchandise, but oh well. I really don't need insurance and a tracking number for something this small.

I've also picked up that old shawl I started on over a year ago and made some progress there. I'll probably finish knitting it before I leave on my vacation. I'll still need to get better at crocheting before I can finish it, but for now I just want it off those needles so I can use them for another project I'm working on that has outgrown its DPNs.

Called the pharmacy to have more of my anti-depressants sent over, as otherwise I'd run out while I'm in the US.

Still need to call my local NAV office and ask why my newly granted disability pension (yay!) was so ridiculously small for June. I got like half a day's worth of money instead of a month. Did someone somewhere make a comma error? At least I got my lovely tax return in June (~ half a month's pay), so my account is only barely in the red now.

Maybe I'll travel more now that I get a 50% discount on most forms of public transportation. :) I think a trip to Førde to stock up on cat food is in order before my vacation.
Oh, and my mom is coming here next week. It'll be awesome. And she has a new car with air conditioning! Can't wait! ^_^

I wonder when you'll be in US, as I'm going there by the end of the month.

But I guess we'll be in opposite ends anyway...

NAV have probably a holiday allowance setup that assumes that you got a pension or were working last year, and that you'll be paid "feriepenger" in june. As you did neither, the system don't quite work. Half a days worth is about the rest of the month, after subtracting holiday.

It sucks, but things will be better next year, and you get it all back if you ever get a job. The system, as it was before they put in feriepenger, did suck even more.

On the other hand, they've got a very generous setup for pensioners who would like to move to the US. If, that is, US Immigration decides that you can live on your pension in USA.

I'll be in Wisconsin. Where are you going? And my disability pension is only until the end of 2011. If I ever move to the US, it'll probably be later than that. I'm not moving away from Brosvika while my grandparents are still alive. They've grown to rely on me. And it does wonder for my self esteem to be useful, even needed, by someone.

I'll be in New York, then Montreal, Canada, and I'm taking my nephew.

For some unfathomable reason a colleague accused me of prefering to spend my holidays in big cities today.
