Life update/Summer Vacation

It's been a while since I posted.
Mom arrived on the 20th. Much good times has been had since. She brought with her the boxed set of Life on Mars season 1, and we've been watching it up at my place, usually two episodes per night, starting after sunset on sunny days and earlier on rainy or cloudy days. I got instantly hooked on the show, and mom got her friend back home to mail her the season two set, and seasons one and two of the spin-off series Ashes to Ashes (she's getting the last season in the mail right after going back home). We got around to watching the first episode of AtA tonight, and ick, she has the crappy Scandinavian release, where there are no English subtitles, it has copy protection, so I can't rip and mount the discs to avoid start-up lag from the DVD drive, and the episodes are bloody CUT! Eight minutes were missing from the first episode. Several times while watching Life on Mars, mom would comment "that scene wasn't in the Norwegian version" (what aired on TV here, I think she means - I don't watch TV as such), and one or two of those cut scenes were actually somewhat important things. Cut, because of cultural references that the average Norwegian viewer wouldn't understand, if there was any reason at all.

I want the whole story, even the parts I might not understand, because that leaves me in a position where I can research and educate myself. That is NOT a bad thing.

Mom explained TONS of references to me. She's really into the series and has done lots of research and looked up just about everything.

That's it for the ranty part.

Other cool things: I now have a bicycle. Mom brought my sister's old one. Getting used to it has been hell and I'm not quite done learning how to change gears yet. Also need to get the seat adjusted - it's too high up for me.

On Tuesday, we (me, mom, aunt, grandmother) went on a shopping trip to Åsane. I got everything on my list (bicycle helmet, swimwear, cat treats) and more (garden tools, kitchen gadgets, some used books, tea, two bedsheets). Had a great time. Still want to go on another trip to Førde soon, while mom is still here. She leaves in a week.

Weight still decreasing. Less than four kilograms left to shed until I slip out of "overweight" and into "ideal" BMI. Less bothered by hunger, too. A bit concerned that I'm going too fast, and some days I consume a rather low amount of calories and I'm afraid it's going to all blow up if I relax for just one moment. At least two days in the past three weeks, I've had less than 1000 calories/day, and that's not healthy, is it? Past me wouldn't even think that possible without feeling starvation, but I've been okay.

In knitting news, I've finished a pair of socks;
Swirly thing (in space)

and started a new pair from some of my handdyed yarn.

We had a few days of summer weather, and then it got cloudy again. I need some real summer days now, so I can go swimming in my new bikini that I probably look much better in now than I did two months ago.


Oh, and in video game news, I am eagerly awaiting the full version of Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. If you haven't already, I suggest you get the demo and try it yourself. It's so cute and addictive. And the demo of course ends right as things are getting interesting. And I have no idea when the full version will be out; all the site says is "soon."
I love that they're not going to put copy protection on it and I will definitely buy it.

I'd still need to lose another 23kg to reach what is considered "normal" for an adult male (BMI < 25), but that would probably be a bad idea given my frame and take around five years if I went by my doc's suggestion.

Luckily for me, that isn't my personal goal. I just want to feel and look the way I think I should. What do you want?

Also, yes, anything below 1200 kcal/day is enough to start losing muscle mass.

Det som ikke er så bra med å spise for lite er jo at kroppen setter ned forbrenningen for å spare på det lille man får. Sprarebluss - som mamma kaller det.

Men bra for fordöyelsen og forbrenningen er et glass med epplecidereddikk i et glass (1 ss i vann). Bra for kroppen, ekkelt for smakslökene. Bläh! ugh.

oj, nå spydde sylvester på gulvet.. äsj, vitt skumm og gresstrå..

Så fint at du fikk min gamle sykkel. Jegg bytta min mot mamma sin. Det er så herlig med en damesykkel. Den jeg köpte her for et år siden var en 30 år gammel herresykkel.. Denne er mye bedre!
