Had a compaq to deal with - those of you who have known me for a while know I loathe them. But I'm ever up for a challenge..
This compaq wouldn't boot. Troubleshooting revealed that it would boot from CD, but not from the hard drive. The hard drive wouldn't boot in my computer either, but worked fine as a secondary drive. It was rather full of spyware, as well as viruses, I assume. Is it possible for a file titled "sex101.exe" to be anything else than a virus? I don't think so..
Anyway, installed the new 80GB drive and formatted it. That was as far as I could get really, since we keep it legal at work, so no giving away serial numbers for windows. =P
I don't really know what was wrong with the old drive - no error messages on attempting to boot, just the blinking cursor in the upper left corner. But at least I did the hardware installation, and prepared it for reinstall. The rest is up to the owner..
::steals the antistatic bag the new HD came in:: (they didn't seem to care about it, and I could always use more of these)
I don't think anyone minds if I leave an hour early.. <_< ::packs up and goes home::
